Through creative arts, wellbeing and connection to landscape we want to create a retreat for minds, bodies and souls to rejuvenate, flourish and land.

Stay

We have two sleeping spaces at Southcombe Barn – a converted Piggery and a Hay Barn. Creative and cosy stays year round in the peaceful setting of Widecombe in the Moor. Both sleep two and are available to book exclusively through Canopy & Stars.

Landscape

Southcombe Barn comprises 16 acres of wildflower meadows, woodland and moorland pasture. The land backs onto the open moor and is a haven of wildlife, birds, bees and butterflies. Set within the Dark Skies reserve, nights can be spent gazing up at star-filled skies and sunsets and sunrises enjoyed from nearby tors. The Dartmoor National Park has incredible walks and wild swimming spots.

Nurture

Enjoy a sound bath in a hammock, yoga, massage, whittling, forest bathing or the simple pleasure of a listening to birdsong by the pond.

Culture

We are committed to a more regenerative society and have developed a forest school area as well as The Southcombe Apothecary Garden as a place for community to come together and a safe haven to support and welcome people who have been displaced. The garden includes medicinal and culinary herbs and dye plants and flowers in a peaceful and meditative setting.

Arts

Southcombe Arts is an arts residency, gallery and studio space. We support emerging artistic talent through our residency award scheme via our affiliation with Arts University Plymouth as well as through a yearly residency and exhibition open-call award. We also offer bookable artist retreat stays and creative workshops.
